UK IPBES STAKEHOLDER NETWORK

The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) is the intergovernmental body which assesses the state of biodiversity and of the ecosystem services it provides to society, in response to requests from decision makers.

To support effective engagement with the Platform, the UK government will seek experts from the science and policy communities, as well as other sectors, to contribute to IPBES whether through scoping, authorship of an assessment(s) or expert review.

JNCC has a role in supporting Defra and the devolved administrations in achieving a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to IPBES, building on existing initiatives and by facilitating efficient engagement with the UK biodiversity science and policy communities.
